Stephen E. Thorne IV is the founder and chief executive officer of PDS Health, an integrated health care support organization serving more than 1,000 dental and primary care practices across the United States.

Thorne began working in the dental field in 1989 when he managed a dental office for his father, a practicing dentist. His early experience improving practice operations led him to establish Pacific Dental Services in 1994. In 2024, the organization was renamed PDS Health to reflect its expanded role in advancing dental-medical integration and supporting coordinated, cost-effective care across dental, specialty, and primary care settings.

Under Thorne’s leadership, PDS Health has promoted wider understanding of the oral-systemic connection and encouraged closer collaboration between dental and medical professionals.

Thorne helped found the Association of Dental Support Organizations (ADSO), served as its first president, and continues to serve on its executive committee. He is also a member of the Santa Fe Group’s Strategic Advisory Council, which focuses on expanding access to oral health for older adults.

Thorne earned a bachelor’s degree in business economics from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a master’s degree in health administration from Chapman University.
