Dr. Stephen Sonis
Dr. Stephen Sonis is a senior lecturer on Oral Medicine, Infection, and Immunity at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. He also serves as a senior surgeon at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and as a senior surgeon in oral medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
He is co-founder and chief scientific officer of Biomodels LLC and Primary Endpoint Solutions, where he has worked with organizations ranging from startups to established companies to support the development of biologics, devices, and small molecules from concept through commercialization.
Sonis is a past president of TRIAD, an international nonprofit focused on the health and economic impact of cancer treatment toxicities. He has also served as a special government employee with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and as a consultant to the Department of Justice.
He has published extensively on the clinical, biological, and economic aspects of cancer and its treatment-related complications. He holds several patents and has authored more than 350 publications and multiple books.
Sonis earned his DMD from Tufts University, completed a combined doctorate and residency at Harvard, and was a Knox Fellow at the University of Oxford.
